ISO/IEC 17020:2026 and Inspection Body Accreditation

Training Formats

This course is available in two formats: Training for individuals and private group training.

Course Overview

Inspection bodies perform assessments on behalf of private organizations or authorities with the goal of providing information about the conformity of inspected items against stakeholder specifications, which may include regulations, documentary standards, specifications, inspection schemes, or contracts. Inspections include the examination of materials, products, installations, plants, processes, work procedures, or services against these requirements, with subsequent reporting of results of these activities to appropriate stakeholders. They can be performed at any stage, from design to inspection, and may cover testing and calibration activities (see ISO/IEC 17025). This course is a comprehensive review of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17020:2026. The participant will gain an understanding of conformity assessment principles and inspection practices, along with the elements of the standard (including but not limited to):
  1. Type A and Type non-A Inspection Bodies
  2. Impartiality and independence
  3. Competency management
  4. Identification and monitoring of risks and opportunities
  5. Inspection process, including sampling
  6. Quality management elements (documented information, internal audits, management reviews)
