Course Overview

This ISO/IEC 17025 training course provides a comprehensive review of the philosophies and requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Participants will gain an understanding of conformity assessment concepts and principles and learn best practices for developing or improving their current management system in preparation for accreditation or to improve the accreditation assessment experience.

Prerequisites

Participants should know and recognize vocabulary commonly used in accreditation, quality assurance, and quality control applications.

This workshop is intended for audiences whose responsibilities include building, auditing, or directly managing an ISO/IEC 17025 management system. These occupations may include but are not limited to:

Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing the workshop, participants will be able to:

Discuss how ISO uses keywords and phrases to effectively and efficiently develop and implement the requirements of the standard.
Describe the process-based approach of the standard.
Explain concepts in ISO/IEC 17025 such as:
1. Continuous improvement
2. Verification and validation
3. Decision rules
4. Principles of impartiality
5. Risk-based thinking
Analyze scenarios to determine if the applications conform to the requirements of the standard
Discuss the importance of metrological traceability and how it impacts the validity of results
List the areas where documents and records are required under the new standard.

NOTE: A post-test is available for this course. This is voluntary and may be useful for demonstrating competency in meeting ISO/IEC 17025 clause 6.2.5 requirements.
